Spring Is Around The Corner

Potted Plants Plant SeedsAlthough it may feel like it’s been a long, cold winter, rest easy. Spring is just one month away, and we open in a short six weeks.

And we’re busy nurturing thousands of plants for you. While the seedlings are small now, and the planters have just been made, we’re assured that we have everything you’ll want for your gardens this year.

Sabina is excited to introduce you to a few of her new favourites including four colours of Kangaroo Paw, the most heat tolerant Wave pansies on the market, and new deep red and burgundy velour Wave petunias. Plus for the first time she’s planting up some patio cucumbers. There’ll even be a fresh assortment of colourful planters and pots, including “Weekender” hanging pots which store water to keep the plants refreshed while you’re away.

In case you’re wondering, the animals have all survived the winter well, although they’re anxiously looking forward to the return of visitors bringing treats. Pepsi, Maurice and the sheep grow lots of extra fur and wool in the winter, and between that, extra feed and their shelter, they can stay warm in even the coldest of days.  Wool also repels the water, so the sheep can sit out in the snow and not get wet, unlike us.

The chickens, ducks, guinea pigs and bunnies are happily enduring the winter in the back greenhouse. As the day length grows longer, the ducks and chickens will begin laying more eggs.

Now is a great time of the year to spend some time thinking about what changes you’d like to make in your gardens this year. Is there a dark corner which needs brightened up? Do you want to plant some veggies with your kids? Do you have a new home that needs some shrubs and landscaping out front? What colours do you want to decorate with? Thinking about it now not only helps the end of the winter to come sooner, but prepares you for the overwhelming number of plant choices which will greet you, once we open our doors.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you back.  SOON.
